Green pasture farm

Major strides have been made in the past several decades regarding people’s growing concern with fresh, organic and pure foods that come from a classic green pasture farm likened to the days of old (and still preserved til today by the Amish).

The industrialization of the food economy began in the late 1800s and further progressed during and after World War II when many families sold their properties to work in big cities looking for a more prosperous life.

The upside of the urbanization of western countries was that more convenient services were provided to regular people – luxuries that only the upper classes previously enjoyed.

The downside – which people have slowly begun to discover and now rectify – is that food production also became industrialized.

Basically, people needed other people to feed them rather than rely on the traditional way of growing 50 to 90% of one’s own food.

The industrialization of the food economy has led to drastic changes in lifestyle and health. People may have acquired “easier” lives that did not require constant maintenance of the land, but in return lost access to fresh, un-processed foods.

The balance was so far weighted in the direction of food dependency that a consciousness began to grow in the latter part of the 20th century about returning back to the land and assuming the rural lifestyle of our forefathers and foremothers.

Today, organic and fresh foods have re-emerged into the mainstream. People are becoming more picky and selective about what they are eating, and for good reason.

Many brand new diseases have emerged in the past 50 years as a result of unsafe factory production techniques, such as pesticides, unhealthy animals, and artificial additives and preservatives.

The consciousness towards self-sustained, organic, pesticide-free, and free-range techniques for growing food and livestock has led to an abundance of healthy and affordable foods in the past decade.

The back-to-the land movement has not only been a boon to healthier lifestyles but there has also been a creative explosion to produce health products that simply didn’t exist prior to it.

Green pastures cod liver

An excellent example is cod liver oil, which has been consumed for thousands of years but not until recently has the oil extract from the cod been distilled down into its pure form and sold.

Firstly, this oil extract comes primarily from the liver of Atlantic cod. Some companies will extract the liver oil from cod in controlled environments, while some extract from wild-caught cod from the ocean, which is the superior option.

Here are some of the most important health benefits:

Rich Source of Omega-3s

This oil is an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, which is a “healthy” fat that the body uses directly as an energy source rather than store it as fat insulation under the skin to be potentially used as energy later.

Omega-3s will give the skin a fresh and radiant glow, amplify the body’s ability to absorb nutrients from food, and speed up the immune system’s response to harmful pathogens and toxins.

High Concentration of Vitamins A and D

This oil is also rich in two essential vitamins: Vitamin A and Vitamin D.

Both of these are very essential vitamins to the body, and improve cognitive performance, skin health, enhance one’s vision, and help maintain healthy bones through quicker calcium absorption.

Vitamin A has been shown to reduce inflammation around the eyes and significantly reduce the risk of developing glaucoma as one ages.

Vitamin D is especially important for people who live in the far north or south of the equator because direct sunlight is far less frequent for much of the year.

The Sun is the best source of Vitamin D, so for people who are not able to get direct access should consider taking regular supplements especially during the winter. Cod liver oil is an excellent method for this.

Vitamin D is important in increasing bone density and calcium absorption. People over the age of 30 can experience more fragile bones and easier fractures, as well as slower immune responses.

White blood cells are made in the bone marrow, so having healthy bones from increased Vitamin D intake extracted from cod oil not only fortifies the bones but improves the immune system as well.

Reduces Inflammation and Arthritis

Many studies have shown that the regular intake of pure oils derived from cod liver can dramatically reduce inflammation especially around the joints.

Many people take medications for arthritic systems and joint pain, but some studies have shown that ingesting this oil was shown to reduce the need for such medications by 30-40%.

Green pasture butter oil

One discovery about the importance between factory housed cows and free-ranging grass-fed cows is the vast difference in the milk the cows produce.

Butter is made from the milk of cows, and cows that live a healthy and free-roaming lifestyle are able to produce milk with a supremely higher concentration of nutrients, and thus, healthier and more nutrient rich butter.

Butter oils derived from such healthy cows’ milk led to the discovery of an important protein that is relatively unknown but has far-reaching nutritional value: conjugated linoleic acid or CLA for short.

Such benefits of CLA in butter oils from healthy cows include:

  • Cancer prevention

  • Better weight management

  • Anti-diabetic effects

  • Improved bone density and formation

The key takeaway is that butter oils taken from cows that are not grass fed and free-ranging do not confer the same level of health benefits as are the butter oils derived from the milk of happy cows.

This fact adds weight to the argument for more animal friendly techniques that create a domino-effect of positive benefits for the products that derived from them.

Green pastures cod liver oil reviews

When searching for the most consciously produced and organic oils, always check the quality of the processing facilities and the mechanics behind how the oils are extracted.

Some processes will involve expedited methods which can reduce the nutrient content of the oils, which in some cases include heating the oils.

The fermentation process is the traditional method that ensures the most concentrated and nutrient rich results, which also improves body’s ability to absorb the nutrients quickly.

Many people dream of owning their own property and producing organic foods that serve the world in a much-needed fashion. There is a great demand for such organic products and the market is geared towards further sustainable production because demand is so high.

A green pasture farm may be a pipe-dream to many, but it is becoming a more practical reality as more people discover the incredibly beneficial products taking center stage as people move away from the large, industrialized food model.
