Macadamia Nuts Nutrition

Fresh Hawaiian Macadamia Nuts

The macadamia nuts nutrition has almost the same qualities as other nuts.

The macadamia nut tree yields rich, delicious nuts that we all love to eat.

Mature macadamia nuts will fall from late autumn to early spring.

Place a tarp on the base of the tree to catch the nuts or pick them off the ground when they fall.

A daily trip to harvest ripe macadamia nuts should provide you with a substantial supply, as the average tree can bear between 30-50 pounds of nuts at the age of 10.

What should be known is that before falling to the ground, the outer shell surrounding the shell should dry and turn yellow.

Remove the outer shell, leaving the shell and nuts in place and letting them dry in a dry place, away from sunlight, for 2-3 weeks.

After drying them in the air, put the macadamia nuts in the shell for 12 hours in a dehydrator or oven at 100-115 degrees Fahrenheit, stirring occasionally and taking care not to cook.

Once completely dried in this way, hard shells can be cracked to remove the nut. Once completely dry, your ripe macadamia nuts can be baked or left raw.

To bake your nuts, place the peeled nuts on a tray, be sure to spread them out. Avoid stacking them deeper than 2 inches. Baking them in the oven should take around for 40 to 50 minutes, while stirring occasionally. Nuts produce enough natural oils that you should not use for baking.

Precious macadamia oil is produced from macadamia nuts. It easily penetrates the skin, gives it a silky glow and makes it smooth.

Macadamia oil contains a large proportion of palmitoleic acid, which acts as an antioxidant in the skin and thus slows down the visible signs of ageing.

In addition, the oil provides a certain degree of natural protection from the effects of solar radiation. In the cosmetics industry, it is used in soaps, sunscreens, lotions, shampoos and creams.
